About the artist

Biography


Mirjam Voelker (Frankfurt, Germany, March 17th 1992) starts her dance training at the age of six. She mainly studies Flamenco. In June 2015 Mirjam Voelker successfully completes her education for Flamenco started in 2012 with Amparo de Triana and La Antonia in Berlin including several study visits in Spain taking classes with well known Flamenco dancers such as Yolanda Osuna Linares, Leonor Leal and Juan Polvillo.
From October 2014 til June 2018 she studies contemporary dance at Tanzakademie Balance 1 in Berlin. Between 2013 and 2015 Ms. Voelker regularly performs at Peña Flamenca Pata Negra and Flamencostudio Amparo de Triana in Berlin. In December 2015 she is a dancer at the Flamenco Festival Berlin (evening of young talents). In July 2017 Ms. Voelker travels to New York City to study at the Martha Graham School for modern dance in line with the school's Summer Intensive. She is accepted into the professional Two-Year Certificate-Program and during her time in NYC has the opportunity to perform some of Martha Graham's most famous pieces such as Lamentation and Frontier. Ms. Voelker has successfully graduated from the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York City in June 2020.
